What is with the Flags?

Those are subscriptions to Richardson Flags – a service that is a Rotary Club Fundraising tool!

The next flag holiday is Flag Day, Tuesday the 14th of June. More recently it was Memorial Day in late May, and in a few weeks July 4th will mark another time to hoist Old Glory!  We (Richardson Flags) always put flags out the weekend before a holiday and pick them up the weekend after. That means we’ll put the flags out this coming weekend and pick them up the weekend of the 18th.

Most of our teams deliver the flags on Saturday, but due to social conflicts, a few flags may be delivered on Friday or Sunday. Similarly for pick-up, most flags will be picked up on Saturday, with a few on Friday or Sunday.

We want to ensure that every paid subscriber gets their flag, and if you don’t get yours, feel free to contact us. But don’t panic just because you see some flags up in a different part of your neighborhood, and you don’t have yours yet. We’ve broken some neighborhoods into multiple sectors, and different delivery teams may work their areas at different times.

A large majority of our flags are delivered by girl scouts or boy scouts, under parental supervision. The remaining flags are delivered by Blue Star Mothers, a service group of mothers of active military, and the ROTC group from RHS. If you see any of our hard workers putting out flags in your neighborhood, feel free to smile and wave to them.

Want to do more? Put one of our yard signs out front for a week. We’ll bring it to your house immediately, and the scouts will pick it up with the flag.
